Here You can find the plans of Moscow and Kremlin by Heritz Hessel. These plans were probably made according to the Russian original map of 1597 and published in Amsterdam in 1613. The plan of Moscow contains the address to a viewer; the plan of Kremlin is dedicated to Czar Mikhail Feodorovich. The accurate plan of Moscow made in 1836 contains masterfully engraved panorama of Moscow from the side of the Novodevichiy Convent and the cathedral of Vasiliy the Blessed

This section contains the unique collection of maps and plans of St.-Petersburg made in XVIII -XIX centuries. Among these You can find the only plan of St.-Petersburg (new Russian capital) and its outskirts made by the famous French cartographer and publisher Nicolas de Fer in 1717. De Fer made this map according to the information given by Peter the Great himself or by some of his closest courtsmen. The section also contains the unique plan of St.-Petersburg (1737), which was the first town plans printed in Russia according to the data of topographical surveys.
An album of engraved views of the new Russian capital was published in St.-Petersburg in 1753. The engravings were made on the basis of drawings made by Mikhail Makhaeff. This section contains the rarest map of the British Isles made by Joan Blaeu. On both sides the map is decorated with vignettes painted in the manner of the best known miniature painters of the Early Renaissance. These are the portraits of the seven Anglo-Saxon kings and the seven scenes of converting them to Christianity.
Besides, this section contains the maps of Scotland and Ireland, the outstanding town plan of London (1688) made by Venzeslav Gollar, the famous graphic artist and engraver from Prague. This artist had its own chorographical manner, i.e. the manner of creating the town plans. This section also contains the medieval town plans, which depict the most beautiful towns of Italy

This section contains such unique maps as the one made by Heritz according to the lost "Draft of Moscowia", a well-known map by Prince Fyodor. Here You can also find the map of Russia (1786), on which the cartographers depicted the newly discovered territories of Russia. Along the northern coastlines one may see the names of the discoverers.
Here there are also some maps of the separate parts of Russia (the northern, the southern and the western parts) published by Joan and Cornelius Blaeu around 1638. The maps were based on the data from the travel notes written by Isaac Massa, the mayor of Amsterdam. The information from his notes was used by many Dutch cartographers and printers of this period

This section contains picturesque and rare old maps of the Palestine, or the Holy Land, plus some parts of Egypt and Red Sea.
The map by Abraham Ortelius (perhaps the best known medieval cartographer) depicts the itinerary of patriarch Abraham. The map is decorated with 22 engraved scenes from the old Testament connected with the life and traveling of Abraham.
The map by Joannes Jansonius contains the most accurate (year after year!) itinerary of the 40-years' wandering of the Hebrews after the Exodus. This map is also decorated with 18 scenes from the Old Testament. Another element of decoration is the view of Jerusalem on Palm Sunday, with Jesus Christ entering the town.

Here You can find the unique panorama of Japan which was probably used as the map for travelers and tourists. This section contains the accurate and richly decorated world maps of high quality. Among these there is the first map of the world decorated with engraved allegoric scenes. This map was published by Petrus Plancius in 1593.
Here You can find the first map based on Merkator's projection and decorated with some allegoric scenes (seven planets at the top, four elements on the right side, four seasons on the left side and Seven Wonders at the bottom of the map.)

All these is taken from the best known book by Andreas Cellarius, which was the compilation of works of many generations of astronomers who studied the problems of identifying the constellations and other celestial objects. The section contains the uncommon examples of the medieval allegoric engraving. Such is the famous "Respublica" by Hondius - one of the best examples of the medieval allegorical engraving. Here You can also found the allegoric portrait of Moritz de Orange, count of Nassau. The main subject of this portrait is the triumph of the "pure Christian religion" over the Catholic dogmas. Another example of such genre is "The Triumph Of Peace" published in Antwerp in 1648
